HUNTER have let the former BHS unit at Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, Edinburgh to Aldi in the first reletting of a BHS store in Scotland following the retailers failure. The letting so soon after the store closed was secured on terms close to those with BHS.
Costa Coffee and Macdonalds have opened in two new purpose built units in the car parking area of the shopping centre which strengthens both the food offer and value of the asset.
Investment and stockbroking firm AJ Bell has chosen to relocate its headquarters to the 94,000 sqft Number 4 building at HUNTER’s Exchange Quay project in Salford. The milestone deal comes on the back of a £10 million redesign and refurbishment of the complex completing this year.
HUNTER has secured planning permission for a major refurbishment programme of The Spires Shopping Centre, Barnet. The refurbishment will see the development of a new H&M anchor store following the successful prelet as well as the creation of bespoke restaurant units and renovation of the public realm.
HUNTER has completed a second round of purchases in its Hunter UK Retail Trust. Comprising around £8 million, the latest acquisitions in Chester and Ipswich take total spending in the closed-end vehicle to £22 million since its launch.
Hunter has completed the first acquisitions in its Hunter UK Retail Trust since launching the fund over the summer. The purchases comprise three high street assets in Norwich, Ipswich and Edinburgh, totalling £14,162,500.
HUNTER has launched the HUNTER UK Retail Trust raising £64 million in equity in one first and final close; this will be supplemented with a conservative level of debt taking projected gross assets to over £100 million. Drawing on HUNTER’s proven track record of investing in retail opportunities with significant asset management potential, it will invest in blocks of underutilised assets situated in desirable high street-led locations across the UK. The fund will focus on acquiring assets in thriving town centres catering to affluent, upper quartile catchment areas with strong retail and leisure offerings.
HUNTER has acquired The Spires Shopping Centre, High Barnet on behalf of a North American institutional investor client from The Pears Group. The prime, 90,000 sq ft scheme, which is anchored by Waitrose, includes 37 units let to a mix of retail and leisure occupiers. Tenants include New Look, Body Shop, Waterstones, Carluccio’s and Costa. The Spires is the principle high street shopping centre in Barnet – one of London’s largest and fastest growing Boroughs as well as one of the most affluent.
