On behalf of the Hunter UK Retail Unit Trust, Hunter has commenced the conversion of the former PC World unit at 1-17 Glasgow Road, Edinburgh.
The project will constitute an internal refurbishment of the ground and first floors, essential fabric repairs and recladding works. Following completion of the works in February 2022, the ground floor will be occupied by Lidl on the basis of a new 25 year lease and the first floor will be occupied by The Gym Group on the basis of a new 15 year lease.
The site was purchased in October 2020 with the business plan to repurpose the asset towards a community led retail park. Full planning permission for the works and change of use has been obtained. The works are being delivered by main contractor GM Projects and follow an upgrade of the car park which completed in April 2021.
Elsewhere at the site, a 20 year lease extension at an increased rent was completed with McDonalds, who has increased the capacity of its drive thru lane, and a lease renewal with Pets at Home has also completed on the basis of a new ten year term.
